In between the Wet Mountains and the northern Sangre De Cristo mountains sits the Wet Mountain Valley. There are thousands of acres of grasslands, meadows, and tree covered foothills between the mountainous volcanic Rockies. Here you will find 2.48 acres of Colorado’s finest land. The evergreen trees and rugged terrain welcome you to the Colorado lifestyle. I can smell the pine, feel the gravel under my boots, and sense the crisp mountain air in my lungs just looking at these pictures.
Off-grid living is good for the soul. Many people are looking for a simpler, healthier, less stressful lifestyle. The world has become a crazy place and your escape is waiting in these hills. The surrounding nature brings a tranquility that can’t be matched. Trees cover this property and provide shelter and shade from the Colorado sun and picturesque winter snow. They bring the gold, burgundy, and amber hues in the fall. They also provide seclusion from everyone except the wildlife. The phrase “peace and quiet” doesn’t begin to describe the lack of noise pollution, absence of traffic, and the void of a bustling city.
This area is an outdoor enthusiasts playground. There are so many activities to keep you busy such as hiking, climbing, and camping. The Pike and San Isabel National Forest as well as the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest provide wonderful opportunities to explore nature. There is white water rafting, kayaking, and fishing in the cold water streams and reservoirs. Fishermen travel the country for trout in these waters. Hunting is a big draw as the big game is impressive and small game abundant. Breckenridge is 2 hours over the pass and hosts ski resorts and snow sports of all kinds. Shopping and indulging in the eateries and breweries there is a sport itself. Canon City is just 41 min east and is a “must see” destination. I highly recommend touring the bottom of the Royal Gorge by railway and the top of the gorge by crossing the Royal Gorge Bridge. It is a history lesson and a thrilling adventure all in one.
Off-grid living is bliss but supplies are necessary. Westcliffe and Silver Cliff are just south 27 minutes and will have your necessities as will Salida, 27 miles west. I encourage you to visit these quaint mountain towns, they have so much to offer. The bigger cities of Pueblo and Colorado Springs are both 1 hour 30 minutes out and Denver is just 2 hours 40 minutes. You can have access to one of the biggest cities in the country and be back before dark.
A cabin built into the side of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain range in the southern Colorado Rockies will bring relaxation like you’ve never felt before. If you are an RVer, this is also the perfect spot to park and look out over the forested valley. A property in this location won’t last long. Don’t let this become someone else’s dream come true. For $16,000 you can secure a piece of Colorado to call your own.
